Romania is a country in southeastern Europe, located on the Black Sea. Its neighboring countries are Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria and Moldova. Here you can admire picturesque landscapes such as the Danube Delta, the largest preserved wetland in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or the distinctive mountain ranges of the Carpathians, which are considered to be one of the last wild natural landscapes in Europe. But the many villages and cities also make this country so diverse. Many peoples lived in the area of today’s Romania. But it was not until the end of the 19th century that an independent Romania was founded.

The country combines historic cities like Brașov, Sibiu, Sighișoara or Cluj-Napoca with nature that still seems completely untouched. Between colorful old towns, medieval towers and cozy alleyways, you’ll experience the perfect blend of modernity and the past. The Carpathian Mountains offer tranquil forests, endless vistas and places where you feel like the world belongs to you for a moment. In traditional villages, you’ll meet people who still live to a rhythm that has almost been lost, authentic, honest and completely unpretentious. Highlights like the legendary Transfăgărășan Highway or the peaceful Danube Delta make Romania a destination for true explorers, for travelers who collect not just photos, but emotions.
Getting to Romania is easier than you might expect, especially if you’re traveling within Europe. Most visitors arrive by plane, with major airports in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timișoara offering a growing number of international connections.
If you’re coming from nearby countries, traveling by car or train is also a great option. The routes take you through beautiful landscapes and give you the flexibility to explore different regions along the way. It might take a bit longer, but the journey itself becomes part of the experience.
