Summer (June to August) is ideal for exploring cities and enjoying nature, but it is also the time when many festivals take place. Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are particularly beautiful for outdoor activities, hiking and visiting the wine regions. Winters in Germany are also perfect for Christmas markets and winter sports in the Alps.
A rental car is ideal for visiting smaller towns, remote places or rural regions. In general, it is easy to travel within Germany by train. However, the trains here are usually not 100 percent reliable and often run late, but also sometimes cheap, especially if I buy you the Deutschland Ticket. Buses are a good and inexpensive alternative for traveling around the country. We can recommend the Deutschland Card for buses and trains.
For short-term stays of up to 90 days, you generally need a Type C visa (Schengen visa). Citizens of EU countries do not require a visa. Your ID card or passport is sufficient for entry.
