Spring and autumn are ideal as the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists than in summer. Summer is the high season, especially on the coasts and islands. It can get very hot, particularly in the inland, but the beaches are perfect for a summer holiday. Winter is also a good time for winter sports and exploring the beautiful cities.

The train is a good and quick way to get around. Many of the big cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville are well connected. Buses are also a good and cheap way to travel around the country. A rental car is a good choice if you want to explore more remote mountainous areas or coastal regions.
EU citizens, citizens of the European Economic Area, and Swiss citizens do not require a visa for Spain. You can enter with your ID card or passport. Non-EU citizens require a Schengen visa, which allows you to stay for approximately three months.
The fee for the Schengen visa is €90.
Spanish tap water is mostly safe to drink, but it contains a lot of chlorine. Therefore, we recommend drinking filtered or bottled water.
