One of the most beautiful countries in Europe. Not only is there a lot of beautiful nature to admire here, but there are also pretty mountain villages, cool cities and lots of tradition to discover. Slovakia borders Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Austria and Czechia. Two thirds of the country is mountainous and a significant part of the Carpathian arc is located. The most famous mountain range is the High Tatras with peaks that are over 2600 meters high. Did you know that Bratislava and Vienna are the two closest capitals in Europe? Slovakia offers many different experiences, from historic cities and medieval castles to the pristine natural landscapes of the Tatra Mountains. In summer the weather is warm and it rains less, there are many festivals and events. Winter is perfect for winter sports enthusiasts, especially in the High Tatras and other ski resorts. The Christmas markets are also a highlight in many cities.

Slovakia is one of those places that quietly surprises you the more time you spend there. It might not be the first country that comes to mind, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. From charming old towns and medieval castles to dramatic mountains and untouched nature, it feels raw, authentic, and refreshingly uncrowded.
What we loved most about Slovakia is how close everything feels to nature. You can go from exploring a historic city to hiking in the mountains within a short drive, without the crowds you often find elsewhere in Europe.
Getting to Slovakia is simple, especially if you’re already traveling in Central Europe. Most visitors arrive via Bratislava, which is well connected to nearby cities, or through Vienna, just across the border, with easy transfers into Slovakia.
If you’re coming from countries like Austria, Hungary, or the Czech Republic, traveling by train or car is quick and convenient. The distances are short, connections are reliable, and it’s easy to combine Slovakia with other destinations along the way.
