Krakow is one of the most beautiful and dazzling cities in Poland. The southern Polish city, not far from the border with the Czech Republic, is known for its well-preserved medieval city center, Wawel Castle and its Jewish quarter. But there is much more to experience and discover in Krakow. With around 800,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in Poland after Warsaw. It is a city full of history and culture.
The fabulous city is very easy to reach and offers many connections to Europe with the country’s second largest airport. But the city is also easy to reach by train. Krakow has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1978 and in 2000 Krakow was European Capital of Culture. Some parts of Krakow date back as early as the 7th century. Did you know that there are 20 universities and a total of over 170,000 students? When traveling to Poland, Krakow should definitely be at the top of your list.

The best way to get to Krakow is by plane, bus or train. The city has very good connections to and from many countries in Europe. The airport is about 12 kilometers from the center and you can take a bus from here. The main train station is about 1.3 kilometers on foot from the center.
You can come to Krakow all year round and all seasons have their advantages and disadvantages. However, we recommend the months around summer, even though it is usually the busiest.
Compared to other major cities in Europe, Krakow is certainly cheap. Dinner costs on average 13-15€ without drinks.
We recommend that you plan a long weekend here, or at least two days, to visit most of the city’s attractions.
