Esslingen am Neckar is a cute town with around 95,000 inhabitants and a beautiful historic old town. The town on the Neckar is located in the region around Stuttgart and here you can explore not only over 1,000 years of town history and hundreds of historical monuments, but also picturesque half-timbered houses, great views, good Swabian cuisine and much, much more. The region in and around Esslingen am Neckar is also a great wine-growing area.
Esslingen Castle towers over the city with wonderful views of Esslingen and the region. Did you know that several canals flow through Esslingen? This gives you a bit of a Venice feel. There are many ways to get here. There are many trains from Stuttgart to Esslingen every day. The journey takes around 25 minutes and a ticket for one journey costs around 4€. Of course, you can also get here by bus. If you are travelling by car, Esslingen has several parking lots and parking garages in and around the city. However, it must be said that parking garages are relatively expensive.
All seasons can be very beautiful. Summers are very beautiful, but can be hot with temperatures up to 35 degrees. Winters can be very cold with temperatures below 0 degrees. However, it can also be very beautiful when the Christmas season begins, the Christmas markets open and the scent of fresh almonds fills your nose (and then a bit of snow on top of that…dreamy!). Spring and autumn are beautifully colorful and temperatures are pleasant at around 16-20 degrees.
