Mosta, Malta

Mosta, a town shaped by faith♥︎

Mosta is a town in the centre of Malta with around 20,000 inhabitants and is located around 10 kilometres from the capital Valletta. It is one of the largest towns on the island and is located in a very fertile landscape for Malta. Mosta’s history goes back hundreds of years. The town’s most famous sight, the Rotunda of Mosta, can be seen from far away. The church was built in the 19th century and today dominates the cityscape. Its Roman Catholic church has one of the largest free-standing church domes in the world.

In the Middle Ages, Mosta was a place of refuge for the population during pirate attacks. Unfortunately, there are few or no other sights in Mosta apart from the Rotunda, but it is still worth a visit. The romantic town has many cute streets and small alleys with the famous, beautiful, colorful balconies and shutters. The cute little café’s around the Rotunda are also highly recommended.
