Marsaxlokk, Malta

Malta's charming Fishing village♥︎

Marsaxlokk is a small fishing village with around 4,000 inhabitants in the south of Malta. The small, romantic town is known primarily for its harbor and the colorful Luzzu boats. There is also a daily market on the harbor promenade with local, fresh and good products. The center of the town is near the Church of Our Lady of Pompei. Here you will also find a small square with one or two restaurants and café’s. Marsaxlokk was settled early on and was considered an important harbor by the Phoenicians and Romans.

Once a week there is a very lively weekly market at the harbor. Here you can buy fresh fish, among other things, but also fresh everyday items. It is a particularly good opportunity to buy souvenirs and try the island’s specialties. Marsaxlokk is also very popular for trips to St. Peter’s Pool, which is only three kilometers away. It is a small, beautiful place where you can spend some time and learn more about the traditions of the Maltese people.
