Discover a picturesque village on Mallorca♥︎
One of Mallorca’s most enchanting spots is the coastal village of Deià, nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains. With around 700 residents, this artists’ haven charms visitors with narrow streets, stone houses, cozy cafés, and art galleries. Surrounded by green valleys, olive and orange groves, and the turquoise sea, it feels like a postcard come to life. Nearby, the small Cala Deià offers a peaceful escape, while hiking and cycling trails let you explore the stunning surrounding scenery.
artistic village nestled between mountains and sea
Deià is located in the northwest of Mallorca, nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains. It sits along the island’s rugged coastline, just a short drive from the towns of Sóller and Valldemossa, and about 40 minutes from Palma, the capital. Surrounded by steep cliffs, green valleys, and the Mediterranean Sea, Deià is perfectly positioned for exploring both the mountains and the coast.
We love how it feels like stepping into another world, narrow cobblestone streets, stone houses, and cozy cafés all surrounded by green valleys and dramatic cliffs.
Deià is nestled in Mallorca’s Tramuntana Mountains, about 40 minutes from Palma. The easiest way to reach it is by car via the scenic Ma-10 coastal road. Buses run from Palma and nearby towns like Sóller, but schedules are limited. Once there, the village is small and walkable, making it perfect to explore on foot.
Renting a car gives you maximum flexibility, letting you combine your visit with nearby coves, hiking trails, and other charming mountain villages.
When we travel, we always save the best places we discover from hidden viewpoints and cozy cafés to beautiful beaches and must-see spots. To make trip planning easier, we created interactive travel maps with all our favorite locations in one place. Simply open the map and explore the places we personally visited.

Walking through the streets of Deià is pure magic. We love getting lost in the narrow cobblestone lanes, popping into cozy cafés, little boutiques, and art galleries along the way. The local art never fails to inspire us, and every corner feels like a new discovery.
The Son Marroig manor house is located between Valldemossa and Deià. It’s a dreamy spot with sea views, a beautiful white gazebo, and a small, charming garden. Right next to Son Marroig is the Sa Foradada restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy stunning views.
Entry to Son Marroig manor house usually costs only a few houses and is a cool stop with fantastic views.
Cala Deià is a small, hidden cove just a short walk from the village, where turquoise waters meet rugged cliffs. We love visiting for a peaceful swim, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the stunning views. Despite its popularity, it still feels secluded, making it one of Mallorca’s most magical coastal spots.
Good to know: There’s a small parking area, and it gets very crowded, especially during the summer months of June to September. So it’s best to arrive early.
Nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana between Deià and Valldemossa, Sa Foradada is a stunning peninsula with a natural rock hole offering one of Mallorca’s most beautiful sunsets. The hike from the restaurant of the same name takes about 45 minutes, reservations are highly recommended. Right next to it, a bar serves great drinks with incredible views, but it gets busy, especially in summer.
Deià is magical all year round, but the best time to visit depends on what you want from your trip. It should also be noted that the small mountain village can get very crowded, especially in summer.
This is our favorite time. The weather is warm but not too hot, flowers bloom across the village, and the hiking trails in the Tramuntana Mountains are at their most beautiful. It’s also quieter than the summer months, so you can enjoy the narrow streets, art galleries, and nearby Cala Deià without the crowds.
This season brings sunny days perfect for swimming at Cala Deià or enjoying cliffside restaurants like Ca’s Patró March. Be aware that it can get busy, so booking restaurants and accommodations in advance is a must.
Autumn is another fantastic season to visit the beautiful mountain village. The sea is still warm for swimming, temperatures are mild, and the village becomes peaceful again. This season is perfect if you want to combine beach days with hiking and exploring.
During winter it is quiet and calm. Many restaurants and galleries may close for the season, but the village’s charm and mountain scenery remain breathtaking. Ideal for those who love solitude and a slower pace.
