Split, Croatia

Wander Through the Timeless Streets of Split♥︎

Split is one of the most impressive and fascinating cities in Croatia. It is the second largest city in the country, the largest city in southern Croatia and is considered the capital of Dalmatia. Split has everything you could want in a vacation. The city center of Split,  including Diocletian’s Palace, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. Culinary specialties of Dalmatian cuisine await you along the Riva and in the center of Split.

Split probably has one of the liveliest and most colorful nightlife in Croatia with countless bars, restaurants and lounges, making the city the perfect place for a night out. Thanks to good connections through one of the country’s largest airports, Split is a great destination in Europe in summer. This place is truly an impressive city in Croatia and a true cultural metropolis with beautiful beaches.

How to get around Icon, The Atlas Story

How to get there

There are several planes flying to many European countries every day throughout the year. The airport is about 20 kilometers from the city. There are also buses from the airport to the center. In the high season there are also trains from Zagreb to Split. You can also, of course, take a long-distance bus from various places to Split.

Best time to visit

The summer months of May to September are generally the best time to visit. The many beautiful beaches along the coast are particularly great to enjoy. But even in the off-season, if you want to avoid the crowds, Split is very pleasant. You can still easily go swimming here.

How expensive Icon, The Atlas Story

How expensive is Split

The city on the Adriatic is one of the most expensive places in Croatia. It is very crowded and expensive, especially in high season. A good meal in a normal restaurant starts at around 50€. A beer costs at least 5€.

How much time to spend here

We spent a total of two nights in Split. Depending on what you plan to do, we recommend spending 2-4 days here. The combination of big city and sea is really cool, especially in the warmer months.
