Scheveningen is a wonderful place on the North Sea with long sandy beaches, dunes, beautiful beach promenade, fishing harbor, many shops, as well as good restaurants and beach bars. Scheveningen beach can be enjoyed all year round and the resort is just 5 kilometers from The Hague. It takes around 1 hour on foot, 19 minutes by tram and 15 minutes by car. Scheveningen is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the Netherlands.
This beautiful place is best known for its famous pier with Ferris wheel, many beach pavilions, impressive spa house, extensive boulevard and kilometers of sandy beaches. Here is something for everyone. You can have action by flying along the pier on the zipline or just chilling on the beach, maybe treat yourself to culinary delights or hang out in one of the countless bars. Scheveningen is definitely worth a visit and you should come here at least once in your life.

In summer we do not recommend travelling by car as it can get incredibly busy and the whole city becomes one big traffic jam. The best way to get there is by bike or by tram from The Hague. The journey takes around 10-15 minutes.
The best time to come here is during the summer months of June to August. However, it does get very busy then, although the beach and promenade are very spacious and the crowds are well spread out.
It can be a bit more expensive here than in other parts of Holland, but the prices are still reasonable. You’ll pay around 10-15€ for a meal here.
We would recommend a day trip from Amsterdam or The Hague. You can chill on the beach, eat in good restaurants or just enjoy a drink in the cool beach bars on the beach.
