Places to visit

Palma

The capital of the Spanish Mediterranean island is located in the southwest and, with approximately 430,000 inhabitants, it’s the largest city in Mallorca. Palma is the cultural center and boasts many cute cafΓ©’s, bars, and restaurants, as well as beautiful architecture, charming little streets and amazing sights. The most famous sight here is Palma Cathedral.

Valldemossa

Nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains lies the picturesque mountain village of Valldemossa. With its unique panorama and charming old town, it’s a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The small community is located about 20 kilometers from the capital, Palma. Valldemossa is known primarily for its Carthusian monastery, stunning views and the composer Frederic Chopin.

SΓ³ller & Port de SΓ³ller

The small town of SΓ³ller is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Mallorca. Located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, it is also known as the Valley of Oranges. The town center is centered around the Church of Sant Bartomeu and the main square, Plaza ConstituciΓ³n. About 6 kilometers from SΓ³ller is Port de SΓ³ller, an idyllic little town with a small harbor, beach, and a promenade lined with restaurants, bars, and cafΓ©’s.

DeiΓ 

This is one of the prettiest villages in Mallorca. DeiΓ  is a small, unique coastal town in the northwest of Mallorca, with the nearby Cala DeiΓ . With its approximately 700 inhabitants, the town has been an inspiration for artists from all over the world and of all genres for decades. Therefore, it is also known by many as the artists’ village of Mallorca. Located about 30 kilometers from the capital, Palma, it is a very popular place for tourists and locals alike.

Fornalutx

Not far from SΓ³ller lies the charming little mountain village of Fornalutx. With a population of around 700 inhabitants, this small community is located in the Serra de Tramuntana region. The village’s narrow streets are lined with greenery, terraced vineyards and wooded slopes frame the town. The scent of lemon and orange blossoms wafts through the narrow streets. Fornalutx has twice been named the “most beautiful village in Spain.”

Sineu

Sineu is best known for its weekly market, one of the oldest and most famous on Mallorca. The small community is located in the center of the island, in the Es PlΓ  plain, about 35 kilometers from the capital, Palma. Sineu is a charming, historic village in the heart of the islands that has retained much of its authentic Mallorcan flair. The center here centers around the market square, where you’ll find small bars, traditional bakeries and restaurants serving Mallorcan cuisine.

SantanyΓ­

SantanyΓ­ is a beautiful town in the southeast of Mallorca, about 50 kilometers from the capital, Palma. If you’re looking for a mix of art, culture, nature, and the sea, then SantanyΓ­ is exactly what you’re looking for. The town is especially known for its beautiful old town, the stunning nearby beaches and the weekly market. The surrounding nature of SantanyΓ­ is also very beautiful and popular with hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Inca

With approximately 35,000 inhabitants, Inca is one of Mallorca’s largest cities and is located in the center of the island, nestled in the Raiguer region. The city has developed from an industrial center for the leather goods industry into a vibrant urban area with historic charm and modern flair. Thanks to its central location, Inca is easily accessible by both car and public transport.

Banyalbufar

Banyalbufar is one of the most beautiful villages on the west coast of Mallorca, located approximately 28 kilometers from Palma. Nestled in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana, the town offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Here, you can experience the authentic Mallorca off the beaten track. Banyalbufar is known for its Malvasia wine, its terraced vineyards and its beautiful landscape.

Cap Formentor

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Mallorca is Cap de Formentor. It is the eastern end of the Formentor peninsula and also the northernmost point of Mallorca. The route from Port de PollenΓ§a to the cape leads through wild mountain landscapes, narrow switchbacks, and forests. Along the way to the lighthouse, there are also great viewpoints, beautiful beaches and small coves.

Nice to know: From June to October, access is restricted due to mass tourism. You are no longer allowed to drive to Cap de Formentor during the day. Be sure to check the official websites beforehand.

Albercutx Watchtower

Talaia d’Albercutx is one of those viewpoints that truly takes your breath away. Perched high above the Formentor peninsula, the historic watchtower offers sweeping views over Cap Formentor, the Bay of PollenΓ§a, and the Tramuntana mountains, on clear days even as far as Menorca. Just a short drive from PollenΓ§a, it’s an unforgettable stop, best visited early to enjoy the moment in peace.

Cala Figuera

In the southeast of Mallorca, the charming fishing village of Cala Figuera awaits you. Located about 57 kilometers from Palma, it belongs to the municipality of SantanyΓ­. The white houses with green shutters and cute little boats are characteristic and give the place a special charm. If you love the Mediterranean climate, enjoy freshly caught fish and want to enjoy nature at its best, Cala Figuera is the place for you.

Ermita de la Victoria

The Ermita de la Victoria is a historic monastery and pilgrimage site on the Victoria Peninsula in northern Mallorca, near AlcΓΊdia. The former hermitage sits at an altitude of over 400 meters and offers wonderful views over the Bay of PollenΓ§a and Cap de Formentor. Several hiking trails into the beautiful surrounding region and nature begin from the monastery. There is also a restaurant with a terrace serving delicious Mallorcan cuisine and paella.

Jardines de Alfabia

It is an impressive garden complex in the heart of Mallorca that combines history, culture and botanical diversity. It is located near the village of Bunyola, about 18 kilometers from Palma. It is a combination of country house, park and garden. The history of the house and garden dates back to Arab times. You’ll also find a small bar serving good drinks and snacks. Jardines de Alfabia are generally open daily, but it’s recommended to check the official website for current times and admission prices.

Reserva Park

The La Reserva Park nature reserve near Puigpunyent, with its abundance of nature, animals, a climbing park and pools is an absolute highlight and a place you should definitely visit. Nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park offers a perfect combination of nature experiences, animal conservation and outdoor activities. The place is ideal for families, nature lovers and adventure seekers looking for a relaxing day in nature. The park features a bar, a barbecue area and an adventure course with a zip line, climbing opportunities, a suspension bridge and more.

Son Marroig

Not far from the picturesque village of DeiΓ , in northwest Mallorca, lies the traditional Mallorcan country estate of Son Marroig. Built around the 15th century in the Renaissance style, it offers some paid parking on-site. A visit here can be easily combined with a hike to the Sa Foradada peninsula. It’s a place for culture vultures, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Mallorca’s west coast.

Sa Foradada

One of the most beautiful and popular viewpoints in Mallorca is Sa Foradada, a rock or peninsula in the sea with a large hole. Above, you’ll find a restaurant, a bar and the Son Marroig manor house, from where you can enjoy stunning views. A popular hiking trail leads from Son Marroig down to Sa Foradada, where there’s also a small bar. Sa Foradada is a place of outstanding natural beauty and cultural significance, offering an unforgettable experience for both, hikers and food lovers.
