The best way to get to Colmar is by car, train or bus. Most train connections to Colmar go via Mulhouse and Strasbourg, where you have to change. You can also take a bus to Colmar from Germany, for example, but also from many other places. There are many paid parking spaces around the old town, just a few minutes’ walk from the center.
Colmar is beautiful all year round. Autumn and spring are very pleasant with mild temperatures around 20 degrees. Summer is also very nice but it can also be very hot, sometimes reaching 35 degrees. One of the most beautiful times of the year in Colmar is definitely winter. That’s when the Christmas season begins and the whole city looks like a magical Christmas world.
Because the small town is very touristy, it is definitely one of the more expensive places in France. For a meal for two in a good restaurant you will pay around 40-60€. A beer usually costs 4-5€ here.
It’s a nice place to spend a night, although hotel prices are usually quite high. You can also do a day trip to Colmar and see and explore most of the city. Accordingly, 1 to 2 days are ideal for Colmar.
