Mallorca is one of those islands where we never stop chasing the perfect beach. From hidden turquoise calas tucked between cliffs to wide sandy shores washed by clear Mediterranean water, we quickly realize that every stretch of coastline has its own mood. Some beaches invite us to stay all day, others are meant for quiet mornings, spontaneous swims, and moments where we simply slow down and let the island set the pace.
There are so many beautiful beaches and coves around the island of Mallorca. However, it must also be said that many of the beaches, especially the popular ones, are quite crowded and overrun in the summer (June-September).

To get to Playa de Formentor, you have to drive past Port de Pollença and then follow the signs north to Cap Formentor over the mountains. From Port de Pollença, the 10-kilometer drive takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can also take the bus. The beach is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca and should be on your bucket list. We recommend arriving early, especially in the summer months, as the beach, like most beaches, unfortunately gets very crowded around midday. In the morning, it’s a paradise.
Around this area you will find some good parking options. Depending on how long you plan to stay, expect to pay between 5€ and 20€. We recommend using one of the small parking lots near the Platja Mar restaurant. Alternatively, there is the large free parking lot for visitors to Cap de Formentor.
Here you’ll find a beautiful bay in the southeast of Mallorca, about 7 kilometers from Santanyí. Crystal-clear, turquoise waters and a fine sandy beach await you. Cliff diving is also possible here. There’s also a small pub serving drinks and snacks. The beach is best reached by car or scooter. Alternatively, you can also take the bus from Santanyí.
There is a free parking lot directly at the beach (*as of May 2025), although it’s not very large.
Cala Mitjana is a beautiful, but very small, beach located between Portocolom and Cala D’Or. Next to the beach, you’ll also find the bay of Cala Sa Nau. These two beaches are located approximately 20 kilometers from Felanitx and 15 kilometers from Santanyí. Mitjana beach, with its soft, white sand, is only about 20 meters long and is surrounded by low cliffs and trees.
We recommend parking at Cala Sa Nau and then following the signs to Cala Mitjana. The parking lot is somewhat larger and free (*as of May 2025). The path to Cala Mitjana is partly unpaved and leads along the coast. Please allow 15-20 minutes for the short hike.
Es Trenc is undoubtedly one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca. The beach stretches almost from Sa Rapita in the northwest to Colonia de Sant Jordi in the southeast and is part of a nature reserve in the municipality of Campos. With approximately 2 kilometers of white sand and crystal-clear water, Playa Es Trenc is the longest natural beach on the island. You should definitely arrive early, especially in the summer months, as it can get very crowded and there are always long traffic jams waiting for a parking space.
There are a few parking options here. You can either park not far from the beach in the parking lot along the salt lakes. To do this, you have to drive past the Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc shop and simply follow the road towards the parking lot (Parking Es Trenc, Ses Salines). This now costs between 7-10€ for your car. Alternatively, there is a parking lot above Ses Covetes. From here, it’s an easy 15-minute walk to the beach.
Playa des Coll Baix is a pristine pebble beach in the northwest of Mallorca. With its striking high cliffs and turquoise waters, it’s a true gem of the island. The beach is located about 8 kilometers from Alcudia and can only be reached on foot. The approximately 220-meter-long beach is pure nature, so keep in mind that there are no restaurants or shops here. Bring something to eat and drink. But please take your trash with you when you leave this place.
Depending on where you start from or how far you want to hike, there are a few small free parking areas here. The best way to get to the beach is to follow the Cami de la Muntanya al Coll Baix road. There are a few small parking lots along this road. Eventually, you’ll come to a parking lot where you can’t go any further. This is probably the closest to the beach. From here, it’s about a 30-60 minute walk to the beach.
The small bay of S’Illot is located in northeast Mallorca, about 5 kilometers from Alcudia. Playa S’Illot, also known as Cala Moreia, boasts crystal-clear waters and is especially popular with nature lovers and for romantic sunsets.
You can park for free right in front of the bay. However, the parking lot isn’t the biggest.
One of the most famous beaches in Mallorca is definitely Caló des Moro. Accordingly, it gets incredibly crowded, especially in the summer months. Therefore, we recommend visiting during the off-season and very early in the morning. This small beach is located about 6.5 kilometers from Santanyí. Here you will also find the pretty bay of Cala s’Almunia. Call des Moro has beautiful waters and a sandy beach about 20 meters wide.
The parking lot is located at the roundabout on the Carretera de Cala Llombards road. The coves of Caló des Moro and Cala s’Almunia are usually signposted. The parking lot is free (*as of 2025) and is located about 1 kilometer from the beaches, which is a 15-20 minute walk.

Cala Deià is located about 2 kilometers from Deià and is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. This somewhat secluded bay is located in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains and has a small pebble beach and excellent water quality.
The parking lot is located about 300 meters from the beach. There is a fee and it can get quite busy during peak season. It’s best to arrive before 10am.
Cala s’Almunia is a charming cove directly opposite Caló des Moro beach. The beach is located about 6 kilometers from Santanyí and about 57 kilometers from the capital, Palma. Here you’ll find crystal-clear waters and charming little fishermen’s houses. Although there is no real sandy beach here, only rocky stretches, Cala s’Almunia is still worth a visit and one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca.
The parking lot for Cala s’Almunia is the same as for Calo des Moró. From the parking lot, it’s a 15-20 minute walk to the coves.
Portals Vells is located in the southwest of Mallorca, about 22 kilometers from Palma. It is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Right next to the beach are two other lovely coves, Cala del Mago and Caló dels Reis, that’s why it’s also known as three fingers bay. Here you’ll also find impressive caves and a charming little harbor. There’s also a small restaurant (Es Repòs) right on the beach serving good drinks and snacks.
There’s a small parking lot in each of the coves, which is free (*as of May 2025). In front of Portals Vells, there’s a rather small parking lot that gets quite full around midday. The largest one is the Cala del Mago parking lot, from where you’ll have to walk.
Nestled into a cliff, Cala Pi is a beautiful beach with cute little boathouses. This small bay with a lovely sandy beach is located in the south of Mallorca, about 40 kilometers from Palma. Cala Pi is also known for a small jetty from which you could take some great pictures. Unfortunately, this jetty has been demolished and is no longer there.
There is no actual parking lot here. You’ll either have to park in one of the side streets or simply walk a little further away and from here to the bay. If you park on the streets, you’ll see the following lines on the ground.
White lines: Parking is generally permitted and free of charge.
Blue lines: Parking is subject to a fee and requires a parking ticket.
Yellow lines: Parking is prohibited.
Cala Gat, located not far from the town of Cala Rajada, is a small, charming cove nestled between cliffs in eastern Mallorca. It’s a truly stunning beach with great sand and water, but like so many beaches and coves here, it’s extremely crowded in the summer. Therefore, you should definitely visit during the off-season or early in the morning.
There’s no parking lot near the beach, but you can easily park in one of the side streets in Cala Rajada or on one of the streets a little above the beach. In any case, you’ll have to walk a short distance.
