Kravica Waterfalls are a breathtaking natural spectacle in Bosnia & Herzegovina. It is undoubtedly one of the most popular attractions in the country. The waterfalls are located near the village of Studenci at the Trebižat river. The absolute highlight here, in addition to the picturesque landscape, is definitely a swim in the crystal-clear turquoise pool below.
With over 25 meter the Kravica Waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The falls themselves are off the beaten track and hidden by a forest. There are also two restaurants here where you can enjoy good food and drinks. It is an outstanding natural attraction and definitely worth a visit. There is also a popular picnic spot in summer, that is often visited by tourists.
where turquoise water and calm nature steal the show
We drove to Kravica Waterfalls by car, which was the easiest and most relaxing option for us. There’s an official parking lot nearby, from which you can walk down to the waterfalls.
Alternatively, you can reach Kravica with a guided tour or by taking a taxi from Mostar or Međugorje. Getting there by public bus is rather complicated, as you usually have to change buses and walk a bit.
We went in the morning and found the timing perfect. It was already a bit busy, but still very manageable and pleasant. Especially in the morning, you have more space at the viewpoints and can enjoy the waterfalls in peace. From midday onwards, it can get significantly more crowded, especially during peak season.
💡Our tip: Arrive as early as possible, especially in summer, it makes the visit much more relaxed and enjoyable.
Tickets can be purchased either on-site at the ticket office or ideally, online at the official website. The entrance fee for the Kravica Waterfalls is divided into the following categories:

School groups (ages 7-18) – 10 KM ≈ €5
Student groups (ages 7-18) – 5 KM ≈ €2.50
Children under 7 – free entry

The parking fee for each commenced hour is:
Cars – 3 km (≈1.50€) per hour/day ticket for 6 km (≈3€)
Campers – 4 km (≈2€) per hour
Motorcycles – 3 km (≈1.50€) per hour
Opening hours also vary depending on the season. Kravica Waterfalls are open longer during the summer months, while they close earlier outside of peak season. It’s therefore advisable to plan your visit carefully.

For us, the best time to visit Kravica Waterfalls is definitely spring, summer and early autumn. In spring, the waterfalls carry a particularly large amount of water and appear incredibly powerful, everything is green and the surrounding nature feels fresh and vibrant. We visited Kravica in summer, and it was the perfect place to cool off and go swimming on hot days.
We found the light in the morning to be the most beautiful for photos. The sun isn’t too high yet, the colors of the water appear more intense and the overall lighting is softer. At midday, the light can be very harsh, while it’s often quite crowded by late afternoon.
Our conclusion: Arrive early, choose warmer months and plan your trip outside of peak season, that’s when Kravica reveals its most beautiful side.

We visited Kravica Waterfalls in the summer, and the water was very refreshing, actually quite cold and definitely not “bath-warm” water. Water temperatures rise to around 15-20°C Celsius in July and August (though it feels more like below 10°C).
In spring, the water can still be quite cool, often around 15°C, which is fine for a quick dip, but rather chilly for longer swims. In autumn, the water remains pleasant depending on the amount of sunshine, while in winter it’s far too cold for swimming.
💡Our tip: If you want to swim, choose the summer months, arrive early, and enjoy the natural pools. Then you can experience Kravica Waterfalls in complete peace and quiet with the perfect water temperature.
When visiting Kravica Waterfalls, there are a few things you should bring to ensure a relaxing trip.
For us, Kravica is definitely worth a visit. So yes, you should definitely go there. The waterfalls are impressive, the surrounding nature is truly beautiful, and the atmosphere is relaxing.
Compared to other well-known waterfalls in Europe, Kravica is less crowded and significantly more pristine. You’re not just standing on viewing platforms, but are immersed in nature and can experience the water up close.
Kravica is particularly well-suited for anyone who loves nature, wants to cool off on hot days, or is planning a relaxing day trip from Mostar or Međugorje. It’s also ideal for couples, families, or travelers who don’t want to embark on a long hike. Anyone looking for spectacular nature without strenuous activity will love Kravica.
