Hluboká Castle is one of the most impressive castles in Czechia. It is located in an idyllic village called Hluboká nad Vltavou with around 5,000 inhabitants. The place is not far from the city of Budweis in South Bohemia and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. Hluboká Castle is not only a wonder of architecture, but also a treasure trove of cultural assets.
The history of the castle goes back to the 13th century and was inspired by the world-famous Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom. You can see the castle from far away because it sits on a small hill above the small town, Moldau and the Bohemian region. In general, it is a very beautiful region surrounded by nature. There is also a popular zoo and large lakes where you can take a nice walk.

The easiest way to get here is by car, train or bus. There are trains and buses from Budweis, which is about 10 kilometers away. The journey takes about 7 minutes and costs 32CKZ (about 1.20€).
You only need tickets if you want to visit the castle interior and you can buy them online or on site. There are various tours that cost around 200CKZ (8€) per person.
Opening hours vary depending on the season and month. In most months the castle is open from:
09:00-12:00 and 12:30-17:00
You can either park in the town or leave your car at the large car park for the castle. This is about a 10-minute walk from the castle. Whether you park in the town or at the official car park, the cost is generally the same, between 50-100CKZ (around 2-4€) for the whole day.
